Going Green for your Wedding

One of the things everyone is talking about is going green. Ever wonder how you can incorporate that into your wedding? Here are some tips for the environmentally conscious bride and groom:

1) Go with organic flowers. These will be free of pesticides and grown naturally. Even if you order them from out of your area, there is still less travel than importing them from other countries.

2) Use locally grown and raised food for your wedding and reception.  This cuts down on carbon emissions and supports your local economy.

3) Consider using organic materials. Some brides now are even going with organic materials for their wedding gowns and wedding party attire. You can even use organic linens at your reception

4) Talk to your planner about renting as many materials as possible, like the vases with your flowers, so they can be reused.

5) Decorate with soy candles. The website www.naturessoycandles.net gives this info: "Soy candles burn clean producing 90-95% less soot than paraffin candles and burn cooler resulting in faster scent dispersion."

6) If you can, have a local wedding and keep your out of town guests to a minimum. This will cut down on travel which cuts down on carbon emissions.
